Yes….we are moving ..yes we are changing our name!
You may have noted that the winter gales blew away signage off the wall at Blackrock Medical Centre. Perhaps it was mother nature trying to give us a nudge! It is of course true that we are planning a move to a larger location…it is hard to keep a secret in a village so no doubt you will have already heard!
You will have also met some of our fabulous new staff and of course lamented our colleagues who have since retired. The COVID pandemic has been a period of enormous flux for everyone, not least the health service and General Practice. However, it has also afforded us an opportunity to examine how we can meet the needs of our community better. The reason we are moving is that as Blackrock is growing so too is the practice. Between the clinic at Castlebellingham and our new clinic at the Fairways, we hope to grow as the population of Blackrock and Castlebellingham grows. Work is currently underway, and we hope to be in by the end of the year, fingers crossed. They say there is nothing as stressful as moving home, so if we seem a little distracted (or even dusty) please bear with us as we make the big move.
As a way of striving to continue to improve the service for our patients, staff and community we thought why not go all out and start off with a new name; Clermont Health. As you may know, Dr Meave Baxter is a Ravensdale native, an avid mountain biker and likes to think of herself as the Lord Clermont of downhill mountain biking. As such we thought it most apt to rename the practice after her! Of course, Clermont is a town land in Co Louth named after Baron Clermont, who would have looked over Blackrock from upon high in Ravensdale. We felt the name neatly said where we are, while who we are is exactly the same. While there is a new name for the practice, a new logo and new colours, the ethos remains unchanged. From our practice manager Jacqui, to all of the docs and nurses you know, and all of the reception and administrative staff who keep the show running seamlessly, we remain committed to offering high quality, evidence based, accessible family practice to our community.
